Fellowship Program

We convene in residence innovative and impactful people who have expertise and experience examining and deconstructing racism.

Research Program

Our team of professional and student researchers pursues original studies that rigorously document racial inequity and injustice. We ensure that our findings and research-based solutions are available and accessible to the public.

We showcase the most promising and influential antiracist voices of our time, many of whom are affiliated with our Institute. Our flagship annual event is the National Antiracist Book Festival, which will return to Washington, DC, in 2027.

The Emancipator is an award-winning digital platform that provides breaking news, expert analysis, and investigative reporting about the structure of racism and antiracist efforts to abolish it. The Emancipator works in the spirit of abolitionist newspapers that covered the scourge of slavery and efforts to abolish it. The Emancipator is editorially independent of Howard University.
