Application Requirements

Project Abstract

Summarizes the project’s scope, originality, and intended impact. Maximum 250 words. 

Project Description 

Explains how the project examines racial inequity or injustice, or brings equity or justice into fruition. Explains how the idea or project is innovative. Shares how antiracist principles shape the project’s focus, methods, or outcome. Situates the project in relation relevant work from experts in their field. Explains why the Institute for Advanced Study would be an ideal home to pursue the project. Provide timeline with anticipated milestones for the fellowship year. Maximum 2,000 words. 

Record of Work

List of scholarship, creative works, campaigns, and/or organizational accomplishments that establishes a record of expertise and experience in one’s field. Single page.

Curriculum Vitae (CV), Resume, or Portfolio 

A current curriculum vitae or portfolio (no more than five pages). Applicants from non-academic backgrounds may submit a CV or portfolio that reflects professional experience, creative practice, community work, or public engagement that is relevant to the proposed project. If the applicant's proposed project is a visual medium, please include an active hyperlink to digital materials that showcase pertinent past work.  

 
Letter of Recommendation 

One letter of recommendation from an individual familiar with the applicant’s work and the proposed project.
